Do you remember the Dire Straits song, Industrial Disease? If so, you might rmember the line from the song, “Two men say they’re Jesus. One of them must be wrong.”
That line isn’t a bad place to start when we hear a claim like the one from Queensland man, A.J. Miller, who believes that he is the reincarnation of Jesus and that his wife is the reincarantion of Mary Magdalene. Who are we to believe, the Jesus of the Bible or the current day Jesus who is gathering followers in Australia? The things they claim about themselves are quite different so they can’t both be the Son of God.
My regular Wednesday morning guest on 98.5 Sonshine FM is Rev Dr Ross Clifford who is the Principal of Morling College in New South Wales. Each week we chat about a range of issues relating to spirituality and belief.
Today we looked at the story of A.J. Miller and asked why people are so eager to follow those who make such outrageous claims. Why would people deviate so far from established truths and are there guidelines we should follow to stop us from falling into error?
How do we guard ourselves against false teaching? Some teaching is obviously wrong but how do we tell when a teacher is slowly moving further and further away from the truth?

Unfortunately and so good to know…they both are wrong!! People who follow these false teachers, need to stop hungering after another truth or another Jesus and hunger after Jesus of Nazareth the Son of God.

I heard about this guy from someone I know who is not a Christian. They asked me if I thought he was Jesus. I explained that if people read the Bible themselves they would know what it says about Jesus’ return and that this guy is not Jesus. So because of his TV coverage we were able to talk about the real Jesus.
